A solo project of Swedish instrumentalist/composer
Lina Der Baby Doll General, Deutsch Nepal has explored the ambient sounds of the industrial world since the early '90s. His early cassette-only recordings,
Only Silence Among the Filthy and
The Silent Earth, were reissued on CD as
A Silent Siege in 2002. Along with his first full-length vinyl recording,
Deflagration of Hell, these albums offered only a hint of what
General subsequently unleashed with such graphically named albums as
Benevolence -- Flogging Satin Alive in 1993,
Tolerance -- How the Servant Utilized His Masters in 1994, and
Erosion in 1999. Under the Deutsch Nepal name, he also split one CD with
In Slaughter Natives and one with
the Moon Lay Hidden Beneath a Cloud. A single, "Dentist Environmental," was released on the Ant-Zen label. Recordings spanning 1992-1996 were compiled on the 1997 album
Comprendido. In addition to his work as Deutsch Nepal,
General continues to be involved with a separate solo project,
Frozen Faces, under whose name he released the album
Broken Sounds of a Dying Culture.
